Applied Research
The WLCE@VIU is staffed by the Dept. of Recreation and Tourism Management faculty and students. We design and conduct applied research, collect data, coordinate conferences and events, speak to media on related issues, and do keynote presentations at conferences, meetings, and other events.

Create & Share Knowledge
The WLCE@VIU hosted the 2022 BC Protected Areas Research Forum and will host the 2026 Canadian Congress on Leisure Research. We have also hosted industry networking events, Pecha Kucha nights, and sector meetings.
We also host events for World Leisure Day, which is celebrated annually on April 16.
